“Out-of-network” coverage means that Park North Dentistry takes your insurance, but does not have a direct contract with your insurance provider.
For preventative procedures (exam, x-rays and cleaning) patients typically have $0 co-pay. For other procedures, we prefer to obtain a “pre-authorization” from the insurance company. That way we all know how much a co-pay will be before doing any work.
We can also request a pre-authorization for first time patients before your initial visit.
When you first arrive and meet our staff, you’ll fill out your new patient paperwork. This helps our team get to know you better. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to complete your paperwork.
We request that you give our office 48 hours notice in the event that you need to reschedule your appointment. This allows for other patients to be scheduled into that appointment. If you miss an appointment without contacting our office within the requested time, this is considered a missed appointment. A fee of $75 will be charged to you; this fee cannot be billed to your insurance company and will be your direct responsibility.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please let our staff know and we will be glad to clarify any questions you may have. We thank you for your patronage.
Many times gum loss is preceded by bone loss. This deterioration can be caused by genetic, environmental, bio-mechanical and even hormonal factors. Some acute instances of gum loss can be fixed with a gum graft. A nightguard, invisalign or breaking some bad habits may help.
Acid produced by sugar loving microorganisms lead to demineralization of enamel. If the demineralization is not reversed, a cavity will grow.
It is perfectly fine, however, to eat your favorite snacks and beverages as long as you limit the sugary exposure to enamel to 20 minutes. After eating, rinse with water or brush your teeth.
Chewing gum can actually help protect teeth by stimulating saliva production. Any gum with xylitol as the sugar substitute is okay.
Any new spaces should be investigated by a dental or medical professional to rule out serious causes. Our teeth are always moving. As we grow, our muscles, bone density and parafunctional habits change. Our teeth are constantly adapting to this variation in force. Over time, we may notice a change in the alignment of our teeth. Invisalign may be able to correct these changes.
Unless there is infection or an underlying medical/dental condition, transient bad breath in the morning or after a nap can be due to dry mouth. Keep a sippy cup of water (only water) nearby and give your child a sip when they wake up. Additionally, brushing teeth after naps can take care of the smell and reinforce good habits.
Kids love to mimic what they see. Make a habit of brushing your teeth with your child. Let your child participate by “helping” you do a great job. The key is a consistent routine. Pretty soon your child will be reminding YOU to brush!
